Meet Erik Miller

Erik Miller is a product of the LBUSD. He is running because he wants all students to have what he had: schools with caring adults who lovingly help them become the people they want to be.

Erik Miller was born and raised in Long Beach and currently lives with his wife, Rachel, and 1-year old daughter Abigail in the Cal Heights Neighborhood. The former All-Moore League Football Player graduated from the LBUSD and went on to be the first in his family to go to college, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Woodbury University.

Erik Miller is the Executive Director of U.S.VETS in Long Beach. U.S. VETS offers supportive services including transitional housing, permanent housing, employment and housing services. The site serves more than 800 veterans daily. Erik began his career as an Architectural Designer with Steinberg Architects in Los Angeles where he learned to manage major construction projects and work with large budgets. He took these project management skills to the non-profit sector 11 years ago where he started as a Director of a Long Beach based mentoring organization focused toward education.

In response to the gang and gun violence crisis in Central and West Long Beach, Erik joined the Long Beach GRIP (Gang Reduction Intervention and Prevention) Taskforce where he served as Chairman from 2012-2014. As the chair, Erik worked to implement a federal grant focused on youth programs that have reduced violence throughout the city. He currently serves as a mentor with Operation Jump Start.

Working For Us

As a product of the LBUSD and with a growing family who will also be LBUSD students, I have personal interest in preserving and improving the quality of our school system for the next generation. I am running because I want all students to have what I had: schools with caring adults who lovingly help them become the people they want to be.
